Scaling Up Quality: from startup to corporate

Monday, September 11th, 16:30 - 18:00

From the early days of a tech driven startup to the structured large corporate environments, the concept of Quality in ICT evolves. Changes encompass not only pure technical implementation practices but also strategic business continuity, QoS (Quality of Service) and client-orientation.

In this panel, diverse perspectives on Quality are explored, from changing (and challenging) contexts in a tech company lifecycle.

This QUATIC panel will explore potential synergies between the academic state of the art (SoA) and the real world, extending beyond technical and software development processes.

AI in building Software systems: Are we prepared yet?

Wednesday, September 13th, 11:30 - 13:00

Contemporary software systems, such as cyber-physical, smart environments, and those in the Internet of Things paradigm, represent software engineering challenges. Their pervasiveness and intensive digital transformation imply the need for high-quality software regarding the number of new quality features they present. The lack of software technologies produces opportunities for the field's evolution. For instance, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to develop and assure the quality of such software systems could improve the software processes.

However,  what should be our primary quality concerns or desirable features to tackle with AI techniques? How can software engineers incorporate terms such as responsibility, ethics, and bias and mitigate potential dangers when using AI techniques?

To answer these questions is challenging without discussions and sharing of experience! It justifies this panel:

Are we prepared to use AI to support Contemporary Software Systems Quality? One of the Challenges on Quality Day activities of QUATIC 2023!
